Basics
NAME: Romola Kader AGE: 33 NATIONALITY: Orlesian RACE: Dwarf OCCUPATION: Lampworker TITLE/RANK: N/A | HEIGHT: 4'4" BUILD: A bit thin and lean for a dwarf HAIR: Long, wavy, light red EYES: Blue SKIN: Fair; some dark shadows around her eyes. BEARING: Withdrawn, spooks easily. |
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES: Beneath her clothes, there are a number of faded scars acquired over the last decade. It is clear that she has been whipped, and that one of her arms was once broken so badly that it healed crooked. She wears a small earring made of polished deer bone from her right ear. |
Status
Romola Kader owns a workshop with a modest storefront in Lowtown called "The Lampworks," where she sells small, blown glass ornaments and accepts commissions from select clients.
She can often be seen doing a bit of shopping in the Lowtown alienage.
Reputation
In general: Quiet, courteous, a bit on the religious side. Doesn't seem like the kind of person who used to get out that much.
If your character is from Orlais, or speaks Orlesian fluently: Romola's accent is a bit unusual. Her spoken Orlesian incorporates idioms and terms not often spoken in Val Royeaux or eastern Orlais. (A bit like someone from Paris trying to parse over the French spoken by a Franco-Ontarian.)
If your character is Andrastian: Romola seems to ascribe to an interpretation of the Chant of Light that is unconventional. The iconology she carries with her is from the Cult of Masked Andraste, though this may not be immediately recognizable to anyone who isn't from Serault.
If your character knows much about Serault or glasswork: The artifacts that Romola crafts as a lampworker are unmistakably Seraultine in design.
Hooks
- Any CR is fine, but primarily looking for positive CR with this character.
- A history of trauma, and efforts to recover from it.
- The Chantry, Andrastian faith, its nuances, etc.
- This character is basically a little proto-revolutionary just waiting for the right kindling to set her off. A firebrand in introvert's clothing.
- CW: Romola's history involves slavery and 'human' trafficking (not sexual). I'll do my best to be considerate of all players' needs regarding this subject, but if you don't want to engage in any plots or threads with her, I completely understand that.
Approval & Gifts
+ Freedom for any oppressed group. + Rich assholes getting what they deserve. + Compassion for the downtrodden. + Good craftsmanship. + Adequate compensation for services rendered. | - Orlais. Serault and the Glassworks in particular. - Slavery or indentured servitude of any kind. - The Chantry's chokehold on its lyrium-addicted Templars. |
Romola is curious about the tenets of the Imperial Chantry, but curious in the way that one is curious about the capabilities of a dangerous disease to spread. Given the chance, she'd study it in-depth. GIFTS Gentle tokens of affection or kindness; e.g., a bouquet of wildflowers would go over swimmingly with her. Would also respond well to icons of her faith, or books on the Chantry. She also would enjoy practical tools that would allow her to perform her lampwork. |
